Predicting the performance of general task

چکیده
The Glamis methodology provides a framework for performance modelling of parallel applications, based on a combination of task graph models and queueing network models. This paper presents a new, moderately cheap algorithm which enables the analysis of arbitrary task graph models of parallel programs with general precedence relationships, given a queueing model of the underlying machine. The algorithm gen-eralises over an earlier algorithm. An extension to this algorithm is proposed to allow for the analysis of a certain type of mutual exclusion at the task level. The features of the methodology are illustrated by means of a case study, modelling a task graph executor running on a distributed-memory parallel machine. Measurements carried out on the actual machine, as well as simulations, are used to validate the predictions.

The Role of Social Cognition in Predicting the Social Functioning in Patients With Chronic Schizophrenia
Objectives: Patients with schizophrenia are characterized with deficiencies in various aspects of social functioning. Given the relationship between social functioning deficits and relapse in these patients, identification of underlying factors is of significant importance. Thus, in this study, the contribution of each dimension of social cognition (Emotion Perception [EP], Theory of Mind [ToM]...
متن کاملSelf – Others Rating Discrepancy of Task and Contextual Performance
This research compared ratings of task performance and contextual performance from three different sources: self, peer, and supervisor. Participants were service industry employees in the service industries in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. A Sample of 146 employees and 40 supervisors from the service industries provided ratings of task performance and contextual performance. The results indicated th...
متن کاملPredicting Normal People’s Reaction Time based on Hippocampal Local Efficiency During a Memory-Guided Attention Task
Background: There are some convincing shreds of evidence indicating that memory can direct attention. The local efficiency of an area in the brain, as a quantitative feature in a complex network, indicates how the surrounding nodes can transfer the information when a specific node is omitted. This feature is a scale for measuring efficient integration of information in the brain. Objectives:...

متن کاملThe Effect of Task Repetition and Task Recycling on EFL Learners' Oral Performance
One of the major criticisms leveled at task-based language teaching (TBLT), despite its countless merits, is developing fluency at the cost of accuracy. The post-task stage affords a number of options to counteract this downside through task repetition and task recycling. These two options are considered to positively affect learners' oral performance in terms of fluency, accuracy, and complexi...
